'Roo Tennis Falls to Concordia

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's tennis teams dropped their home openers on Sunday, with the women falling 6-2 while the men were swept 9-0. The teams are now each 0-2 to open the season.

Gigi Francis and Kylie Imperial earned a victory at flight one doubles for the women, taking a 9-7 decision. Francis picked up Austin College's other victory on the day, winning line one singles 6-3, 7-6 (7-2). Bailey Standokes and Sierra Thomas fell 8-0 in line two doubles and Tara Tran and Elena Aventa were downed 8-2 on line three.

Standokes was edged 6-3, 3-6, 5-10 playing flight three singles, while Thomas and Aventa each lost 0-6, 0-6 on lines four and six, respectively. Tran dropped line five singles by scores of 0-6, 1-6, while Imperial's line two match went unfinished.

On the men's side, Jay Carrillo and Luke Henley fell 8-0 on line one in doubles action, while Tate Nelson and Trey Salyer dropped an 8-2 competition at line two. William Dixon and AJ Wueste were topped 8-1 on line three.

In singles competition, Carrillo fell 0-6, 1-6 on line one, Salyer lost 1-6, 1-6 on line two, and Henley dropped a 3-6, 2-6 flight three decision. Nelson was bested 1-6, 1-6 on line four, Storm Simonin fell 2-6, 1-6 on line five, and Dixon dropped a 1-6, 0-6 line six match.
