'Roo Women's Tennis Falls to Texas Wesleyan

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's tennis team fell 6-3 to visiting Texas Wesleyan on Saturday, as the 'Roos now head into next weekend's regular season finale at home against UT-Dallas with a record of 3-8.

The pairing of Gigi Francis and Phoebe Shapard picked up a big win at number one doubles, taking the match 8-7 to score for the 'Roos, and Sierra Thomas and Elena Aventa won by default on line three. Madison Hiler and Megan Morris dropped an 8-3 match at line two to round out doubles competition.

Aventa won by default on line six in singles action, but the 'Roos dropped flights one through five on the day. Francis fell at line one by scores of 4-6, 1-6, while Shapard dropped a 1-6, 0-6 match on line two. Morris fell 0-6, 2-6, Hiler lost 1-6, 1-6, and Thomas was on the losing side of a 0-6, 2-6 match on lines three through five, respectively.
