LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Austin College women's tennis player Melody Duong has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Singles Player of the Week, the league office has announced.

Duong, a sophomore from League City, posted a pair of straight-set victories at line one to lead the 'Roos to a 2-0 record against conference opponents Colorado College and Texas Lutheran last week. Against CC, Duong held off Tess Rubin to win 6-4, 7-6 (6). The next day, the sophomore managed a 6-2, 6-3 win over TLU's MP Hubert. On the season, Duong is 5-4 from the No. 1 position. 

Duong, currently ranked as the No. 49 singles player in the nation, also paired with Diana Carvajalino earn SCAC Doubles Team of the Week earlier this season. The duo was 2-0 playing No. 1 singles this past weekend against TLU and Colorado College.
