Women's Tennis Splits Singles vs. Comets on Day 1 of UTD Invite

RICHARDSON, Tex. - In preparation for next weekend's ITA Southwest Regional Championships in San Antonio, Texas, the Women's Tennis Team of Austin College cemented their impressive resumes for seeding consideration this weekend at the UT-Dallas Invite.

  West #20 Melody Duong played the former #8 player in NCAA Women's Tennis as even as possible in a 6-4, 7-5 defeat, while Anna Sergiovanni upset the former #29 player in the nation for the third time in her illustrious career 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (10-7). 

  Diana Carvajalino (West #25 singles player) defeated a talented freshman from UT-Dallas in a comeback fashion, 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-5), and Georgia Moore upset a former Top-360 junior in USTA high school tennis, 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7).

  Later, in doubles action against Texas A&M-Texarkana, the Kangaroos took both doubles lines over the Eagles in decisive fashion.  Katie Seibert/Georgia Moore won 8-3 at the top position, while Kirsten Weber and Brenna McCown picked up the win at the second spot.

  Austin College returns to the courts tomorrow for Doubles action against UT-Dallas, and singles against Texas A&M-Texarkana.
