‘Roos Roll 8-1 Over Concordia (Tex.)
Impressive performances at doubles lead to 5/6 singles victories
AUSTIN, Tex. - The Women's Tennis Team from Austin College went late into the evening to get a victory over the Concordia University Tornados in Austin, TX as part of the second leg of their Saturday double-header.
Lines 1 and 2 doubles claimed victories without dropping a single game, 8-0. But it was line 3 doubles that would provide the excitement. Down 1-4 early and 3-6, Katie Seibert & Chandler Morris would battle back from the depths of defeat to take a 9-7 victory to complete the doubles sweep.
Melody Duong's return to the singles lineup would not disappoint, as she cruised at line 1 6-1, 6-2, clinching 5 team points for Austin College. Anna Sergiovanni claimed the first singles court for AC, 6-0, 6-2.
Morris would double-up for four victories on the day with a 6-1, 6-2 line 4 singles victory. But Georgia Moore would bring everyone to their feet with an "extra-innings" super-tiebreaker victory at line 5.
Moore took the first set 7-6 (4), and dropped the second set 4-6. Falling behind by 1 or 2 points, Moore would battle from down 8-9 serving to winning the last three points and claim the victory 1-0 (11-9).
Austin College plays their fifth match in four days tomorrow, 3/25 vs. Colby (ME) at Austin Tennis Academy. First serve is set for 12:00PM.
