
AC Falls 5-4 at McMurry to Close Out Abilene Trip
The West #14 Warhawks tripped up the West #15 Kangaroos in a nailbiter
ABILENE, Tex. - After picking up two wins on the road in two days prior, the McMurry Warhawks had the Kangaroos' number as Austin College fell 5-4 to close out their trip to Abilene this spring.
With a 2-1 lead coming out of doubles play thanks to the dynamic Line 1 team of Anna Sergiovanni & Diana Carvajalino, and Line 2's duo of Melody Duong & Grace Ortiz, the Kangaroos went up a set on two of the first three singles courts.
West #17 singles player Sergiovanni won the first set 6-0 over her Line 1 opponent, but her McMurry foe fought back to take the 2nd set and the deciding super-tiebreaker.
Chandler Morris split sets with her Line 3 oppnent, but fell 10-5 in the deciding tiebreaker. And with the match tied 4-4, McMurry won a third super-tiebreaker to best the 'Roos and retain their Wst #14 regional ranking. Austin College returns to the courts at home against #34 East Texas Baptist University on 2/10 @ 9:00AM.
