ABILENE, Tex. - The #11 and #15 ranked teams in the Final 2017 ITA Rankings squared off on the campus of Hardin-Simmons, and the #15 Kangaroos won decisively.
Diana Carvajalino and Anna Sergiovanni collected the first Line 1 Doubles victory of the year in decisive fashion, 8-3. Melody Duong and Grace Ortiz used their tough match in yesterday's contest to propel them to an 8-4 win at Line 2. But the match that claimed the momentum in doubles play came from Georgia Moore and Katie Seibert at Line 3.
Moore and Seibert fell behind 7-3, but somehow managed to win the final 6 games in a row to complete the sweep of HSU in doubles competition. The 3-0 lead would fuel singles play for the Kangaroos.
#17 West Ranked Anna Sergiovanni moved Austin College to a 4-0 lead with a 6-0, 6-1 win at Line 2, and West #15 Diana Carvajalino won 6-1, 6-2 at Line 3 to clinch the victory for Women's Tennis.
