Women's Tennis Fall 9-0 to Patriots

SHERMAN, Tex. - The short-handed Austin College Kangaroo Women's Tennis Team fell 9-0 this evening to the University of Texas at Tyler, moving to 2-1 on the weekend and 5-4 on the year.

Kirsten Weber competed hard, but could not overcome the illness that troubled her in the morning match.  Weber and partner Grace Ortiz could not do enough to stifle the competitiveness of the Line 1 Patriot duo, falling 8-0.

Lines 2 and 3 doubles fell 8-3, but had several flashes of great tennis that gave them momentum moving into singles.

With Weber having been pulled from Singles competition, every Kangaroo Women's Player was forced to play "up a line" and made several competitive matches out of a less than desirable situation.

Sergiovanni posted a tough 6-3, 6-3, defeat to the Line 1 player from UTT, and Anamariia Kheveli fought the Line 4 Patriots player to a 7-6 (5), 6-4 decision.

While the contest would not register in the team score, Magan Green played the match of the day, winning 7-5, 6-4 over her exhibition opponent and providing the moral victory for the Kangaroos going into tomorrow's competition.

Austin College returns to the tennis courts tomorrow morning against the University of the Ozarks.  First serve is scheduled for 9:00AM.
