Bulldogs Too Much for Women's Tennis; Roos Place 6th

KERRVILLE, Tex. - The Women's Tennis Team from Austin College placed 6th in the final SCAC Women's Tennis Standings after a defeat from the Texas Lutheran University Bulldogs in the 5th place consolation match.

The Kangaroos found themselves down 2-1 after doubles, but a gusty performance from Magan Green and Anamariia Kheveli at Line 3 prevented the sweep and gave the AC the opportunity they needed to compete in singles.

Kirsten Weber would once again face off against one of the toughest competitors in the conference, Sofia Vega, and played her tough.  Although she would fall 6-2, 6-3, Weber would play some of the best tennis of her young, bright career.

Meghan White was the loudest she has been all year, fighting valiantly in her final match as a Kangaroo Women's Tennis Player, 6-0, 6-4.

Grace Ortiz would drop the first set to an opponent she defeated last weekend, but would right the ship in the second (6-2), and would find herself up 3-1 in the third set before play was stopped.

Carlye Lide had a much improved performance from her last matchup with the same opponent she faced just a week ago, dropping the first set 6-4, but starting the second up 3-0 before TLU clinched the match.

Anamariia Kheveli won her first set, lost the second, and was about the play the first point of the third set before time was called on all courts.

Katie Barber grinded out a tough match, but her passing shots and lobs were not enough to defeat her aggressive opponent at the net, falling 6-2, 6-1.

The Austin College Women's Tennis Team finishes the season 6-8 on the year, 2-5 in the conference, and says goodbye to their lone senior Meghan White after four years of playing near the top of the lineup, and several SCAC awards, including a 2013 First Team All-SCAC Nomination.
