SHERMAN, Tex. - The Austin College Women's Tennis Team started out hot against the visiting Bulldogs of Texas Lutheran University, but could not maintain their momentum, falling 6-3 when the dust settled.
On Senior Day, Meghan White played her best doubles of the year, partnering with Carlye Lide for an 8-2 decision at Line 2 doubles.
Meanwhile, the new tandem of Magan Green and Anamariia Kheveli stormed through their opponents on the third doubles court, going up 7-0 before dropping their first game in an 8-1 final.
The Kangaroos would not be able to hang onto that lead for long as the first four singles courts put out would fall in straight sets, giving TLU the victory before the final two courts were able to begin play.
Grace Ortiz was the lone 'Roo to win on the singles court, playing strong defense against a heavy forehand hitter, and transitioning at the right times to high-percentage locations.
At the end of a grueling first set, Ortiz won a tiebreaker in "extra-innings" 12-10, and rolled in the second set 6-0 to close out the match.
Austin College will return to action on the road on Sunday, April 17th at 12:00pm on the campus of the University of Texas at Dallas. This will be the last contest before the 'Roos hit the road for the SCAC Championships in Kerrville, TX
