Women's Tennis Drops Tough Contest to TLU
'Roos fall 7-2, but battle hard for every court
SEGUIN, TX – The Women's Tennis Team travelled to Texas Lutheran University for the first of two SCAC conference matches.
Doubles play opened up in exciting fashion as Meghan White/Grace Ortiz traded holds with Vega/McLain on court one. The 'Roos duo would fall 8-5, but were in every game against the tough TLU tandem.
Kate Willis/Carlye Lide found themselves in a quick 7-0 hole. But after fighting off a tough hold on Lide's serve, the two found their stride and rattled off 5-straight games before falling 8-5.
Left on court was Cierra White/Magan Green, down a late break with the Bulldogs playing tough. The Line 3 doubles team would force a tiebreaker and close out the doubles point for the 'Roos 9-8 (7-4).
TLU would take 5 of 6 singles points from the 'Roos, but Anamariia Kheveli would make her opponent on Line 4 earn every point, falling 7-5, 6-4. Cierra White would take the first set easy, but fall 6-0 in the second. After a grueling super-tiebreaker for the match, White would fall 1-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-8).
Austin College travels to Kerrville, TX to play Schreiner University tomorrow, March 28th at 11:30am.
