'Roo Tennis Sweeps East Texas Baptist

The Austin College men's and women's tennis teams swept East Texas Baptist University on Friday afternoon, with the men edging ETBU 5-4 while the women won in convincing fashion 9-0.

On the men's side, the team of Spencer Gander and Ben Boerner got the 'Roos started with an 8-1 victory in doubles action, and David Smith, Jack Kunde, Gander, and Zack Bomar all won their singles matches. Smith won 6-2, 7-5 at number two, Kunde won 6-2, 6-1 at number three, Gander won 6-1, 6-0 at number five, and Bomar won 6-3, 6-1 at number six singles.

On the women's side, the teams of Lizzie Flint and Sophie McDonald, and Jessie Berger and Meghan White each won 8-1 at number one and number two doubles and Ashley Hellman and Amy Harvey won 8-4 playing number three doubles to put the 'Roos on top heading into singles action.

The 'Roos swept through their singles matches with Flint winning 6-2, 6-1 at number one, McDonald won 6-1, 6-1 at number two, Berger won at number three 6-0, 6-2, White won 6-0, 6-1 at number four, Hellman won 6-2, 6-1 at number five, and Harvey took a 6-3, 6-0 win playing number six singles.
