'Roos Race to Strong Start on Day One of SCAC Championships
GARLAND, Texas - The Austin College women's swim team wrapped up day one of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in third place and the men finished the evening in fifth, as both teams swam well in their respective relays at the Garland ISD Natatorium.

The women's quartet of Tatyana Arizmendi, Lexy Hulse, Joslyn Dimitri, and Lola Barcus-Schafer got things started with a fourth place finish in the 200 medley relay, coming in with a time of 1:54.17, while on the men's side, Colin Stewart, Theo Rogers, Alex Lai, and Kamil Murugan placed fifth after clocking a time of 1:37.91 in that event.
The 'Roo women grabbed sixth place in the 800 freestyle relay to close out their two events on the night, as Barcus-Schafer, Arizmendi, Dimitri, and Hulse once again scored points with a solid time of 8:31.10, giving the 'Roos 76 overall points, just 14 off of second place and four ahead of fourth for the first day of competition.
The men's team of Preston Fiala, Lai, Stewart, and Murugan placed fifth in the 800 free relay to help the 'Roos finish day one with 64 total points, 12 behind fourth place and trailing third by just 16 points. The group touched the wall with a time of 7:18.06.
