'Roo Women Take Third, Men Place Fourth at AC Invitational
SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's swim teams performed well in their final home meet of the season, with the women placing third and the women taking fourth at the Austin College Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Hannah Natatorium.
SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's swim teams performed well in their final home meet of the season, with the women placing third and the women taking fourth at the Austin College Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Hannah Natatorium. The women scored 275 points, finishing ahead of Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference foes McMurry and St. Thomas, while the men scored 259, coming in just behind McMurry and ahead of the Celts.
The 'Roos opened the meet with fourth place finishes on both the men's side and the women's side in the 400 medley relay, with the women's team of Tatyana Arizmendi, Lexy Hulse, Joslyn Dimitri, and Sofia Guzman coming in with a time of 4:27.77 while the men's quartet of Josh Nelms, Colin Stewart, Alex Lai, and Kamil Murugan touched with a time of 3:52.51. Dimitri picked up another fourth place finish in the 1650 free with a time of 21:01.47, and Tim Smith also scored fourth on the men's side with a time of 19:23.00.
Hulse placed fifth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:13.52, while Theo Rogers was seventh in that event for the men, coming in with a time of 1:05.70, and Guzman earned ninth place points in the 100 freestyle with a time of 1:01.90 for the women. Murugan was seventh in that race for the men, touching with a time of 51.91, and Izzy Schultze gave the women a seventh place finish in the 200 back with a time of 2:40.89. Nelms earned eighth place points in that event for the men with a time of 2:09.26.
Dimitri also had a fifth place finish in the 500 free with a time of 6:04.53, while on the men's side, Rogers also came in fifth with a time of 5:24.43, and Stewart had one of the strongest swims of the day for the men with a second place finish in the 200 individual medley, coming in with a time of 2:04.97. Both the men and women closed the meet with fourth place finishes in the 400 freestyle relay, as Lai, Smith, Murugan, and Stewart had a time of 3:29.38 for the men while Dimitri, Guzman, Arizmendi, and Hulse scored with a time of 4:07.42 for the women.
