'Roos Swim Well Against UT-Permian Basin and McMurry
SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's swim teams put together strong performances in a double dual against UT-Permian Basin and McMurry University on Saturday, faling 284-200 in a combined score to UTPB and topping McMurry 265-201.
SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's swim teams put together strong performances in a double dual against UT-Permian Basin and McMurry University on Saturday, faling 284-200 in a combined score to UTPB and topping McMurry 265-201.
The 'Roo women picked up wins in both of their duals, topping UTPB 133-103 and McMurry 133-80, while the men fell 181-67 to UTPB but picked up a 132-121 win over the War Hawks.
The women's team picked up an early first place finish in the 200 medley relay, with the quartet of Tatyana Arizmendi, Lexy Hulse, Joslyn Dimitri, and Lola Barcus-Schafer finishing with a time of 1:57.73, nearly eight seconds faster than the second place team. Arizmendi added a second place finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:11.30, while Jack Stack took first in that event on the men's side, touching in 1:48.73.
Sofia Guzman added a second place finish in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:07.49, and Greyson Gaworecki added a second place finish of his own in that event for the men, coming in at 56.35. Hulse gave the women another first place finish in teh 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:10.09, and Izzy Schultze was second in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:38.86.
Kamil Murugan finished second in the 50 free with a time of 22.73, and Stack gave the men another win in teh 100 free, coming in with a time of 48.62 while Barcus-Schafer picked up a first place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:24.10. Hulse also added a first place finish in the 200 breaststroke, touching with a tiime of 2:46.14, and the team of Barcus-Schafer, Dimitri, Arizmendi, and Hulse were first in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:50.23. The men took second in that event, as Colin Stewart, Gaworecki, Josh Nelms, and Stack came in with a time of 1:31.34, just 0.11 seconds behind the first place team from UTPB.
