'Roo Swimming Set to Open SCAC Championships
SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's swim teams will be headed to Garland on Wednesday as they open up the 2024 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship Meet, with both teams in action beginning Wednesday evening and continuing through Saturday night.
SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's swim teams will be headed to Garland on Wednesday as they open up the 2024 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship Meet, with both teams in action beginning Wednesday evening and continuing through Saturday night.
The 'Roos will be competing at Garland ISD Natatorium, with the first night of action consisting of the 200 medley relay and the 800 freestyle relay for both the men and the women. The first session begins at 5:00 p.m., with finals the rest of the week beginning at 6:00 p.m. Preliminary heats will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and the 'Roos will be looking to land several swimmers on the podium throughout the week.
Sammi Thiele will look to defend her SCAC crown in the 100 backstroke on Friday, and will also be setting her sights on gold in the 200 back on Saturday, as well as the 200 individual medley on Thursday. She, Cassidee Levine, and Lola Barcus-Shafer be leading the 'Roos on the women's side, while Alex Lai, Tim Smith, and JonAustin Blaine will lead the men into action as both teams aim for both individual and relay success throughout the meet.
