'Roos Earn Strong Finishes at AC Invite

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's swimming and diving teams performed well at the Austin College Invite, with the women placing second while the men took third. The women scored 507 points and the men finished with 307.5 at the meet.

The women got off to a strong start with a victory in the 200 medley relay, as the team of Chloe Hunt, Lexi Wong, Jade Kemp, and Brooke Le came in with a time of 1:58.75, less than two tenths of a second ahead of the second place team. Hunt added a third place finish in the 100 backstroke, while Wong took first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:13.26. That time was nearly four seconds faster than the next closest competitor. Le came in with a second place finish in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.22, and Nicole Massaro won the 1-meter diving event.

Le also finished third in the 100 free, and Kemp chipped in a third place finish in the 200 backstroke. Wong brought home one more victory on the day in the 200 breaststroke, placing with a time of 2:44.39 in the event. Hunt rounded out the first place finishes with a top time of 1:05.45 in the 100 individual medley. 

On the men's side, Chris Brown placed third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.01, and also had  sixth place finish in the 100 breaststroke. Zach Magers was fifth in the 100 yard butterfly, and Max Saenz was the third place finisher in the 50 free with a time of 22.80. Charles Smith had a fifth place finish in the 100 freestyle, and Colton Baker brought home first place points in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Saenz had another strong finish in the 100 fly, touching with a time of 54.38 to take second. The team of Chris Brown, Baker, Smith, and Eric Brown capped off the event with a third place finish in the 200 free relay, coming in with a time of 1:34.01.
