'Roo Swimming Cruises Past Ozarks

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College men's and women's swimming and diving teams performed well on Homecoming weekend, coasting past Ozarks by scores of 152-67 and 148-40, respectively.

On the men's side, the 'Roos opened the day with a win in the 200 medley relay, with the team of Chris Brown, Tyler Brown, Max Saenz, and Charles Smith coming in with a time of 1:41.92, nearly six seconds faster than the second place team. Brady Sullivan took first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:52.53, and Saenz added a first place finish in the 50 free with a time of 22.58. Chris Brown touched first in the 400 individual medley, coming in with a time of 4:34.09, and Saenz won again in the 100 butterfly with a time of 53.50.

Sullivan had another first place finish in the 100 freestyle, coming in with a time of 49.51, and Tyler Brown was first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.24. Chris Brown had yet another first place finish in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 58.11, and Colton Baker won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.

For the women, the 'Roos also started the day strong with a 200 medley relay win, as Chloe Hunt, Lexi Wong, Sophie Garriga, and Brooke Le finished in a time of 1:59.19. Jade Kemp followed that up with a 1000 freestyle win, touching with a time of 12:07.69, and Claudia Theriot won the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:10.82. Le added a first place finish in the 50 free with a time of 26.12, and Garriga added first place points in both the 400 individual medley and the 100 butterfly.

Hunt was first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 56.93, and Kemp finished first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:10.69. Lula Wallace placed first in the 500 freestyle, coming in with a time of 6:01.17, and Hunt, Theriot, Kemp, and Le capped off the meet with a win in the 200 free relay, finishing with a time of 1:49.16.
