'Roos End Season with Draw at UST

HOUSTON, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team wrapped up its 2024 season with a 1-1 draw at the University of St. Thomas on Sunday, finishing the year with an overall record of 9-5-4 and a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference mark of 3-5-2.

HOUSTON, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team wrapped up its 2024 season with a 1-1 draw at the University of St. Thomas on Sunday, finishing the year with an overall record of 9-5-4 and a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference mark of 3-5-2.

Austin College got on the board first in what proved to be a defensive battle, with the two teams combining for just nine shot attempts in the match. The 'Roos went on top 1-0 in the 19th minute when an own goal by the Celts found its way into the net, and Austin College stayed ahead for the duration of the opening half. The 'Roos maintained that cushion until midway through the second frame, when the Celts broke through with a goal by Astrid Mencia in the 77th minute to even things up and that's how things would finish.

Amanda Zyla and Kenedie Lane each made one stop while splitting time in goal for the 'Roos, and Kylie Soich had two stops for the Celts. St. Thomas finished the match with a 6-to-3 advantage in shot attempts, while each team had three corner kicks.
