SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team improved to 9-2-2 overall and 3-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play on Friday evening, as the 'Roos blanked visiting Schreiner University 2-0.
Austin College got on the board early, as Emma Boehmke headed home a pass from Rylie Balderas at the 13 minute mark to make it 1-0. That wound up being the lone tally of the opening half, with things turning into a defensive battle for the last half hour of action. The 'Roos out-shot Schreiner 7-to-3 in the first half, including 3-to-1 in shots on goal, but were unable to build their lead before the break.
It didn't take long for the 'Roos to double the margin coming out of the break, however, as Jetta Broquard scored on an assist from Boehmke just 90 seconds into the second frame to make it 2-0 and that's all the cushion Austin College keeper Kenedie Lane would need on her way to earning her seventh clean sheet of the season. Austin College dominated the action in the second half, holding an 11-to-3 shot advantage, and finished the game with a 7-to-1 edge in shots on goal.
Austin College is back home on Sunday, taking on Trinity University in another SCAC clash. The 'Roos will also be celebrating Senior Day prior to kickoff.
