SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team earned its first Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win and eighth shutout of the year on Friday, blanking Centenary College 3-0 to improve to 7-2-2 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
Austin College scored all three of its goals in the first half and cruised from there, with Kenedie Lane picking up her sixth shutout of the season in goal, stopping both shots she faced. The 'Roos took control early and never relented, out-shooting the Ladies 15-to-6 with a 3-to-0 edge in corner kicks, and Emeri Watson scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 17th minute off of an assist from Jetta Broquard to make it 1-0.
Laney Lambert found the back of the net in the 29th minute to make it a 2-0 game, finishing off of an assist from Emma Boehmke, and the margin grew to 3-0 five minutes later when Miranda Countryman scored via an assist from Lambert. That proved to be the final tally of the game, as Austin College took its three goal advantage and never looked back in the final 45 minutes of action. Centenary mustered just two shot attempts after halftime, with neither being placed on target.
The 'Roos hit the road for another SCAC match on Sunday, as they head to Clarksville, Ark., to take on the University of the Ozarks at noon.
