Women's Soccer Falls at Texas Lutheran

SEGUIN, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at Texas Lutheran University on Sunday, as the 'Roos surrendered one goal in each half to the Bulldogs. The 'Roos are now 6-2-2 overall and 0-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

SEGUIN, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision at Texas Lutheran University on Sunday, as the 'Roos surrendered one goal in each half to the Bulldogs. The 'Roos are now 6-2-2 overall and 0-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Both teams started slow offensively, going the first 25 minutes without either side able to get on the scoreboard, but TLU broke through at the 25:27 mark with a tally by Ashlyn Suarez to make it a 1-0 game. Texas Lutheran out-shot Austin College 10-to-1 in the opening half, as the Bulldogs used a strong defensive effort to keep the 'Roos at bay. The teams headed into halftime with TLU owning a one goal advantage.

The score remained 1-0 until the closing minutes of the contest, when Texas Lutheran doubled its lead on a goal by Bianca Ruiz in the 84th minute, and Austin College was unable to mount a comeback as the clock wound down. The Bulldogs finished the match with a 24-to-4 advantage in shot attempts, including 11-to-1 in shots on goal. Kenedie Lane made nine saves in goal for Austin College, while Alysa Marquez stopped the lone shot she faced.
