BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Austin College women's soccer team continued its historic start to the 2024 campaign, extending the program's record-setting unbeaten streak to eight matches with a 2-0 win at Lyon. The 'Roos are now 6-0-2 on the year.
Austin College earned a clean sheet for the seventh time in eight matches, with Kenedie Lane getting her fifth shutout of the season in goal. The 'Roos dominated throughout against the Scots, with a 17-to-1 shot advantage including 12-to-0 after halftime. Six of those shots were put on target, with Austin College breaking through in the scoring column in the 34th minute when Bailey McCreary launched a shot from 30 yards out to get her first collegiate goal and make it 1-0 at halftime.
The score remained 1-0 until the 84th minute, when Jetta Broquard found Myles McGaha for an insurance tally, the third of the season for McGaha. That proved to be more than enough cushion for Austin College, which now turns its attention to Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play. The 'Roos are off until October 4, when they'll host Southwestern University at 8:00 p.m. in the team's first conference match of the year.
