REDLANDS, Calif. - The Austin College women's soccer team got their 2024 campaign off to a strong start on Friday, as they opened their weekend trip to California with a 1-0 victory over Willamette University on the campus of the University of Redlands.
Kenedie Lane started her senior season with an eight save clean sheet, keeping Willamette at bay despite the 'Roos being out-shot 16-5 in the match. The game was scoreless at halftime, and remained so until the 81st minute of action when first-year forward Jetta Broquard got Austin College on the board with her first collegiate goal to make it 1-0. Fellow freshman Carissa Arellano earned her first career point, assisting on what would prove to be the game-winner.
Willamette had multiple scoring chances down the stretch, including putting a pair on target in the game's final four minutes, but Lane was up to the task and kept the 'Roos on top. Austin College is back in action on Saturday, taking on the University of Wisconsin-Stout at 4:30 p.m. (PDT).
