TLU Tops 'Roo Women

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 home match against visiting Texas Lutheran on Sunday, as the Bulldogs got on the board early and the 'Roos were unable to counter.

Alyssa Simien tallied just over a minute into the match on an assist from Ana Parra to make it 1-0, and Simien would score again in the 14th minute of action, this time finding the back of the net on a one-timer off the foot of Samantha Martinez to make it a 2-0 game. That's how things would stand heading into halftime, but once again the Bulldogs scored early on coming out of halftime, as Elaina Barrientes lofted a shot from the right wing just under the crossbar to make it 3-0 in the 46th minute of action.

Austin College would get several chances to get on the board as the second half wore on, with Priscilla Garcia nearly sending one home on a free kick and Emeri Watson going just wide trying to chip the ball over the TLU goalkeeper. However, the 'Roos were kept off the board the rest of the way, while Simien managed to tack on one more goal in the 89th minute to make it a 4-0 final.

Kenedie Lane made eight saves in goal for Austin College, as the Bulldogs held a 22-9 edge in shots, though just a 10-7 advantage after halftime.
