Women's Soccer Battles to Draw

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team went to double overtime against visiting St. Thomas on Sunday, but neither the 'Roos nor the Celts could find the back of the net in a 0-0 draw in the final game of the year. The 'Roos finish the season with a record of 1-12-2 overall and 0-5-2 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

It was a hardfought match throughout, with both teams creating offensive chances but unable to tally. The Celts put multiple shots off the crossbar, while Austin College saw several shots sail just wide of the goal. St. Thomas held a 7-4 shot advantage in the first half and ramped up the offense after the break, firing 16 shots to just five for the 'Roos, but Austin College keeper Meredith Harris managed to keep the Celts at bay.

The Celts finished the match with a 30-14 shot advantage, but Harris stopped all nine shots that were put on net to complete a 110 minute shutout in the final game of her Austin College career. Briana Salinas made three saves for St. Thomas in the draw.
