'Roos Fall to Centenary in Overtime

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 overtime heartbreaker to visiting Centenary College on Friday evening, as the Ladies got a golden goal in the first extra period. The 'Roos are now 1-12-1 overall and 0-5-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

The Ladies got on the board early on a goal by Gabby McDonald, who took a pass in the middle of the box and fired it into the upper right corner of the net in the 14th minute of action, and Centenary would take a 1-0 lead into halftime. The Ladies used a 9-5 shot advantage in the opening half to take the lead, and actually out-shot the 'Roos 10-2 after halftime but Austin College would find the equalizer in the second frame anyway as Sydney Padget tallied on an assist from Sarah Carmichael at the 59:21 mark.

Neither team was able to find the net over the final 30 minutes of regulation, sending the teams to overtime all square at 1-1. Five minutes into the overtime period, McDonald sent a shot toward the goal, with Austin College keeper getting a hand on it, but the shot just found its way under the crossbar to give the 'Roos a 2-1 defeat. Harris made 10 saves in goal for Austin College.
