Women's Soccer Blanked by Belhaven

JACKSON, Miss. - The Austin College women's soccer team dropped a non-conference match at Belhaven College on Tuesday, falling 5-0 to the Blazers. The 'Roos are now 1-6 overall on the year.

Belhaven jumped out to a 3-0 lead at halftime and the 'Roos were unable to get anything going offensively to stage a comeback, managing two shots in each half and getting out-shot 22-4 overall in the match. Kyla Shaw put the Blazers on the board first with a goal in the 24th minute, and Belhaven added a tally from Anna Crane just over a minute later. The lead grew to 3-0 on another goal by Crane in the 27th minute of action.

The Blazers got a goal from Lizbeth Eslava in just after the 51 minute mark to make it 4-0, and the margin grew to 5-0 on a score by Michelle Marquet 72 minutes into the match. Meredith Harris made 11 saves for Austin College in defeat.

Austin College is back home on Friday as they host the University of Dallas at 6:00 p.m.
