BROWNWOOD, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team fell 5-1 in a non-conference matchup at Howard Payne University on Friday, dropping the 'Roos to 1-5 overall on the year.

The game was scoreless until the 29th minute of action, when Lexi De La Cruz put HPU on the board, and Meagan Miller followed up eight minutes later to make it a 2-0 game. Camden Chance scored just over a minute later to make it 3-0, and that's where things would stand heading into halftime. Howard Payne owned an 11-2 shot advantage in the opening 45 minutes of action.

Carrie Gerdes scored in the first minute of action coming out of the break to make it 4-0, and that's where things would stand until the 67th minute, when Austin College got on the board with a goal from Giselle Melendez-Valles to make it 4-1. However, HPU would tack on one more goal later in the second half with De La Cruz finding the net again to make it a 5-1 final.

Meredith Harris and Kenedie Lane split time in goal for the 'Roos, with Harris making six saves while Lane made five stops.
