SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team topped Schreiner University 1-0 on Saturday evening, bringing the 'Roos to 1-4-1 overall on the year.

It was a defensive battle from the start between the 'Roos and Mountaineers, though Schreiner controlled possession for much of the first half. The Mountaineers held a 7-to-4 shot advantage in the opening 45 minutes but it was Austin College that broke through on the scoreboard before the break, when Hallie Dickerson sent a long pass down to Dajia Campbell, who placed a shot past the keeper and inside the right post to make it 1-0 at the 35:15 mark.

Austin College clamped down defensively after halftime, limiting Schreiner to one shot attempt, as Maya Erwin and Meredith Harris combined for the shutout. The two teams combined for just three total shots on goal in what was a match played largely between the 18-yard boxes. Austin College wraps up the regular season next weekend, when the 'Roos travel to Houston to take on St. Thomas on Saturday afternoon.
