'Roos Fall in Defensive Battle at Centenary

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Austin College women's soccer team put up a valiant defensive effort but couldn't find the equalizer on Saturday evening, as the 'Roos dropped a 1-0 decision at Centenary. The 'Roos are now 0-2 on the year.

Centenary controlled possession for most of the game, holding a 34-to-5 advantage in shots, but the Austin College defense anchored by goalkeepers Maya Erwin and Meredith Harris were able to turn the Ladies away for the majority of the match. The Ladies got on the board at the 27:01 mark of the first half, when Gabby McDonald scored an unassisted goal to make it 1-0, and that's how things would stand for the duration.

Harris made six second half saves as Centenary took 19 shots after halftime and attempted nine corner kicks, and Erwin made five stops in the opening 45 minutes. Austin College is home for its next match as the 'Roos host Southwestern at 10:00 a.m. on March 13.
