'Roo Women's Soccer Falls to Dallas

SHERMAN, Texas - The Austin College women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to the University of Dallas on Friday night, as the Crusaders broke open a scoreless game early in the second half and the 'Roos were unable to recover. Austin College falls to 2-2-1 overall with the defeat.

It was a slow start offensively for both teams in the opening half, with Dallas managing seven shots while the 'Roos attempted just two head into the break. The 'Roos got their best opportunity early in the game, when Lina Cruz's header off a corner kick hit the post to keep the score even.

The second half saw the Crusaders turn things up offensively, as UD fired 19 shots after the break. In the 57th minute of action Dallas was able to get on the board when a corner kick fell in front of the net, and Elisa Duran managed to punch it in to make it 1-0. The Crusaders controlled possession down the stretch, and had a chance to add an insurance goal late before Maya Erwin stopped a one on one chance at point blank range to keep it a one goal margin.

Dallas finished the game out-shooting Austin College 26-to-7, including an 11-to-3 edge in shots on goal. Erwin finished the game with 10 saves, while UD's Olivia Severson stopped three shots. The 'Roos are off until next Friday, when they travel to Longview to take on LeTourneau.
