Women's Soccer Improves to 2-0

SHERMAN, Texas - For the first time since the 2014 season, the Austin College women's soccer team finds itself 2-0 after head coach Michele Housden's squad defeated visiting Louisiana College 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

For the second time this weekend the 'Roos dominated possession and were the aggressors offensively, out-shooting Louisiana College 10-to-1 in the first half and 19-to-4 overall, but Austin College was unable to capitalize for much of the game. Despite keeping the ball on the attacking side of the field for most of the first half, the 'Roos took a scoreless game into halftime.

The eventual game-winner finally game in the 60th minute, when Hallie Dickerson played a long through-ball to Sarah Carmichael, who beat the Louisiana College keeper to possession and pushed the ball inside the left-side post for the first tally of her young career. The Wildcats had a chance to equalize late, but Rami Mitchell's shot just under the crossbar was punched up and over by Austin College keeper Maya Erwin to preserve the one goal margin and the shutout.

Erwin stopped both of the shots she faced to earn the clean sheet, and has not yet allowed a goal in 135 minutes of action this season. The 'Roos will be trying to make it three in a row this weekend when they travel to Belton to take on Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday evening.
