Women's Soccer Drops Last Second Heartbreaker

SEGUIN, Texas - Texas Lutheran scored with just four seconds left in regulation to hand the Austin College women's soccer team a 2-1 loss on Friday night. The 'Roos are now 0-12-1 overall and 0-8-1 in conference play with the loss.

The 'Roos took an early lead when Maddie Weimer in the fifth minute, punching one home off a deflection for her first collegiate goal. The score would remain 1-0 through halftime before the Bulldogs squared things up in the 71st minute. The game appeared headed for overtime until TLU's Jaclyn Smolik got free in the closing seconds and was able to push a shot past Maya Erwin to give the Bulldogs the win.

Texas Lutheran held a 22-9 edge in shots in the match, while Erwin finished the game making seven saves. Austin College closes out the season on Sunday when they take on Southwestern in Georgetown.
