Women's Soccer Downed by Schreiner

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College women's soccer team dropped its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup with Schreiner University 2-0 on Sunday afternoon, bringing the overall record for the 'Roos to 0-9 on the year and 0-5 in conference play.

Both Schreiner goals came within a minute and a half span in the opening half, as Lindsey Fitz headed home a corner kick in the 25th minute and then Marissa Wheeler found the net at the 26:08 mark. Wheeler also assisted on the first goal by Fitz. Schreiner held a 9-4 edge in shots during the first half, and a 9-7 advantage after halftime. 

Austin College got several solid scoring chances in the second half but was unable to get on the board, while Maya Erwin made five second half saves to keep the Mountaineers off the board after halftime. Erwin finished the game with nine saves for Austin College

The 'Roos head out on the road Tuesday for another SCAC matchup, this time taking on the University of Dallas at 7:00 p.m. in Irving.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
