High-Powered Trinity Too Much for 'Roo Women's Soccer

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College women's soccer team fell to No. 14-ranked Trinity University on Sunday afternoon, as the Tigers tallied five times before halftime en route to a 9-0 final score. The 'Roos are now 3-7 overall and 2-4 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Association play.

Trinity came in with some of the most prolific offensive statistics in the nation, outscoring their SCAC opponents 35-1 in four matches coming into today's game, and the Tigers used that offense early with three goals in the game's first 13 minutes. Trinity would add a fourth goal in the 26th minute on a tally by Julia Camp, and Chelsea Cole made it 5-0 in the 38th minute of action.

In the second half, Trinity's Meredith Licata scored for the second time to make it 6-0 in the 56th minute, and Abby Blackwood added a score in the 71st minute. Halleanne Dure made it 8-0 at the 75:17 mark, and Hannah Bishop found the net with just over two minutes to go to make it a 9-0 final.

Trinity held a 35-3 shot advantage, and the 'Roos were unable to get any shots on target in the match. Maya Erwin made 11 saves in goal for Austin College.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
