Women's Soccer Drops Road Match to Centenary

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Austin College women's soccer team took an early lead but was unable to hang on, falling 2-1 on the road to Centenary in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both teams. The 'Roos are now 1-2 overall on the year with the loss.

Tori Strunk got Austin College on the board quickly, taking a feed from Mackenzie Bolen and pushing it inside the left post just over four minutes into the game. However, Centenary would equalize in the 36th minute and the teams would take a 1-1 game into halftime. Strunk's goal was the lone shot of the opening half for Austin College, as the 'Roos were out-shot 9-1 in the game's first 45 minutes.

Austin College went on the offensive in the second half, out-shooting Centenary 9-7 after the break but it was the Ladies who would tally the game-winner in the 71st minute. A loose ball in front of the net got punched in to give Centenary the 2-1 lead and, eventually, the win.

Maya Erwin made four saves for Austin College in the loss. The 'Roos return home on Sunday for a non-conference matchup against LeTourneau.
