The Austin College women's soccer team dropped its season opening match against Christopher Newport on Friday, falling 7-0 in the neutral site match in Virginia. The 'Roos are now 0-1 as they head into a road match at Mary Hardin-Baylor at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Christopher Newport got off to a blazing start, tallying twice in the first two minutes of action and adding a third goal in the 5th minute. CNU would tack on another goal in the 8th minute to make it 4-0, and after a score in the 33rd minute, the 'Roos found themselves trailing 5-0 at halftime.
In the second half, Christopher Newport added a goal in the 59th minute and another at the 75:49 mark to make it a 7-0 margin. Christopher Newport was dominant throughout, firing 42 shots while limiting Austin College to just two in the match. Laura McGee made 16 saves for Austin College in defeat.
