'Roo Women Fall in Regular Season Finale

'Roo Women Fall in Regular Season Finale
SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College women's soccer team dominated much of the second half action, but a late goal by the University of Dallas turned out to be the difference as the 'Roos fell 1-0 in the team's regular season finale. The 'Roos are now 3-13-2 overall and 2-9-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Playing in sloppy field conditions and a steady rain, neither team was able to get much rhythm going through the first half, with each team putting just two shots on goal before halftime. In the second half the 'Roos started to take control, with the ball remaining in Austin College's final third for much of the second frame. Austin College won five corner kicks, but were turned away by Dallas keeper Elena Naccari on each of their two best chances.

The Crusaders took advantage and found the net in the 82nd minute, when Abigale Weisbrod took a cross from Mariah Fairbanks and fired it into the top left corner to provide the difference.

Laura McGee made four saves for the 'Roos, who will head into the SCAC Tournament next weekend as the No. 6-seed.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
