Austin College Women Net First Win of Season

Austin College Women Net First Win of Season

SHERMAN, Texas – The Austin College women's soccer team got an early goal from Kylie Peterson and never looked back, adding another first half score before cruising to a 2-0 victory over Concordia University-Texas on Sunday afternoon. The win was the first of the young season for the 'Roos, who are now 1-2.

The 'Roos got on the board when Peterson took a centering pass from Ashley Rice at the 18 yard line, blasting it in from straight on in the seventh minute of action. The score remained 1-0 until the 32nd minute, when Erica Williams collected a ball off of a deflection and found the net from 18 yards out, giving her two goals so far this season.

That's all the lead that Austin College would need to secure the win, as the 'Roos controlled possession for much of the game and Laura McGee stopped all four shots she faced to get the clean sheet. Austin College held a 20-14 shot advantage in the match.

The 'Roos are back in action on Tuesday when they host Hardin-Simmons University at 3:00 p.m.

Austin College athletic teams participate as a member of the NCAA Division III and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference.
