Two Late Goals from No. 4 Trinity Sink 'Roo Women

The Austin College women's soccer team put together a strong defensive effort against No. 4-ranked Trinity University as they held the Tigers scoreless for the game's first 77 minutes, but two goals in a four minute span led to a 2-0 loss for the 'Roos. Austin College falls to 4-3 overall and 0-1 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play.

Trinity dominated the ball throughout the game, holding Austin College without a shot while taking 40, including 23 in the second half, but the 'Roos held strong against the attack, and Franchesca Lozoya made four first half saves to send the teams into the locker room in a scoreless tie.

The outstanding defensive effort continued through the second half, with Lozoya making six saves and the 'Roo defenders repeatedly knocking away shots and passes but the Tigers finally broke through with exactly 13 minutes remaining in the game, when Colleen Markey took a pass from Jordan Bethea and put it in the back of the net to make it 1-0.

The Tigers added another goal in the 82nd minute of action, as Julia Camp tallied on assists from Emily Jorgens and Amanda Boe to make it 2-0 and the 'Roos were unable to muster any late offense.

Austin College will be looking to rebound on Sunday when they host SCAC rival Southwestern University at 2:00 p.m.
