Scott's Goal Gives 'Roo Women's Soccer Win in Double OT

Lauren Scott scored just 43 seconds into the second overtime to give the Austin College women's soccer team a 2-1 victory over visiting Millsaps College on Saturday afternoon. The 'Roos are now 2-3 overall this season with the win.

After a scoreless first half the 'Roos wasted little time getting on the board coming out of the break with Ariel Marder tallying in the 47th minute of action to give Austin College the one goal lead. It looked like Austin College would manage to hold onto that lead the rest of the way, but Grace Gremillion found Haleigh Williams for a game-tying goal at the 85:55 mark to send the game into overtime.

Neither team was able to get much going in the first overtime period but Millsaps looked like they might be able to pull off a dramatic victory, but a last second header went off the crossbar to send the game to a second overtime. Less than a minute into the second overtime Marder found a streaking Scott, who found herself one on one with the keeper and pushed a shot into the net for the game winner.

Emily Brockette made nine saves in the net for Austin College and Elise Davis made 10 stops for Millsaps, while the 'Roos owned a 26-16 shot advantage for the game.

Austin College gets back into action tomorrow when they host Rhodes College at 12:00 p.m.
