The Comets, who are in their first season transitioning to the NCAA Division II level, knocked down 10-of-22 three pointers and had 11 players get into the scoring column in the game, took a 22-9 lead after the opening frame and led 44-23 at halftime. The margin grew to 59-33 at the end of the third, before UTD outscored the 'Roos 20-12 in the final frame to seal the 79-45 final score.
Austin College hit just 28.3% from the field and 21.7% from beyond the arc, and also turned the ball over 23 times compared to 14 for the Comets. UTD hit nearly 44% from the field and made 11-of-14 free throws, while the 'Roos knocked down 10-of-16 from the stripe. The Comets also had a 45-to-35 rebounding advantage, as well as 23-to-6 in points off of turnovers, 38-to-9 in bench points, and 32-to-12 in points in the paint.
Raylee McDonald scored 13 points on 5-of-12 shooting and added four rebounds to lead the 'Roos, and Avory Miller had eight points, 10 boards, four steals, and three assists. Trinity Williams chipped in eight points and four rebounds, while Alex Bowman scored a game-high 16 points to lead the Comets.
