
Women's Hoops Falls at Lyon
BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Austin College women's basketball team dropped a 106-85 contest at Lyon College on Saturday, as the Scots knocked down 11-of-21 attempts from beyond the arc and shot 46.2% from the field, while the 'Roos hit 36.2% and were 8-of-30 from deep. The 'Roos are now 1-1 on the year.

Lexi Martin scored 19 points while hitting 5-of-12 field goals overall and 3-of-7 from three point range, and added four assists and two steals, and Kaylee Smith was 6-of-10 on her way to 13 points. Brooklyn Matthews contributed 10 points and seven boards, and Trinity Williams came off the bench to hit 4-of-15 three pointers to add 12 points. Grace Moothart also chipped in seven rebounds and a team-high six assists in the loss.
Lyon jumped out to a 28-18 lead after the first quarter and scored at least 23 points in each frame, and took a 51-38 lead into halftime, and the Scots out-paced the 'Roos in each quarter. Lyon also hit 23 free throws, compared to 17 for the 'Roos, and hounded Austin College into 22 turnovers. Samantha Taylor led all scorers with 34 points for Lyon and Natalya Kaza added 32. Taylor also had 11 assists, six rebounds, and six steals, and did much of her damage from the free throw line, where she made 16-of-18 attempts.
Austin College will be looking to bounce back on Tuesday as they host LeTourneau University in the team's home opener.
