Moothart Named to National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Grace Moothart, a rising junior on the Austin College women’s basketball team, has been selected to serve as a member of the NCAA Division III National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Among other duties, she will attend the NCAA Convention each of the next three years to meet with other national SAAC members.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Grace Moothart, a rising junior on the Austin College women's basketball team, has been selected to serve as a member of the NCAA Division III National Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Among other duties, she will attend the NCAA Convention each of the next three years to meet with other national SAAC members.
Moothart, who is a member of the Austin College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, will represent both the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference and its partner conference, the American Southwest Conference.
Moothart is a two-year starter for the 'Roo women's basketball team, and has been a member of the SCAC Academic Honor Roll each of her first two years in Sherman. She's also excelled on the court, becoming one of the top three-point shooters in the conference, with a career mark of 37% from long-range.
"I am honored to have been selected as a member of the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee," said Moothart. "I am excited to represent the student-athlete voice, as well as help coordinate the division's partnership with Special Olympics. I look forward to the many new opportunities and experiences ahead."
Moothart's term begins immediately and will run two- and one-half years, through the 2027 NCAA Convention. As a member of the national SAAC, she will be expected to attend and actively participate in assigned Division III and Association-wide governance committees.
Additionally, Moothart and other SAAC representatives will discuss ways to improve various aspects of being NCAA Division III student-athletes as it relates to personal well-being, athletics, academics, co-curricular activities, and community projects, and will have the opportunity to be heard by the NCAA regarding issues that impact student-athletes across the country.
The National SAAC also maintains and organizes the partnership between NCAA Division III and the Special Olympics.
