Austin College Women Fall in Regular Season Finale

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Austin College women's basketball team dropped its final regular season game of the year at Colorado College, falling 65-40 to the Tigers to bring the team's record to 9-16 overall and 7-9 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference play heading into the conference tournament.

Lauren Traylor scored 18 for Austin College in the defeat, hitting 7-of-14 shots overall and 4-of-6 from deep, and Naomi Anamkwe came off the bench to score seven for the 'Roos. Colorado College jumped out to a 20-8 first half lead and went on top 36-17 at halftime, extending the deficit to 47-24 heading into the final frame. The Tigers outscored Austin College 18-16 in the final frame, making it a 65-40 final score. The 'Roos hit just 23.3% from the field and 4-of-16 from long distance, while Colorado College shot 46.3% from the floor, and 43.8% from deep. 

Grace Moothart, Lexi Martin, and Avery Sweeney each chipped in four points for the 'Roos, while Zoe Tomlinson paced the Tigers with 21 points and 15 rebounds. Audrey Bayston added 11 points for Colorado College, while Rose Koehler chipped in 10 on 5-of-7 shooting. Austin College will now head to the SCAC Tournament in Shreveport next week, where they'll either be the No. 5 or No. 6 seed, based on Sunday's result between Colorado College and the University of Dallas.
