McCoy Named SCAC Woman of the Year Finalist

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Austin College's Natalie McCoy has been named one of seven finalists for the 2021-22 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Woman of the Year Award, the league office has announced.

The award recognizes the conference's senior female student-athlete who has best distinguished herself throughout her collegiate career in the areas of academic achievement, athletic excellence and service and leadership. Past winners include former 'Roo women's basketball player Ally Longaker in 2021, as well as former Austin College volleyball player Shelby Eaves in 2014.

McCoy, a native of San Antonio who graduate this spring with a 3.58 grade-point-average, was a member of Austin College's 2020 SCAC Championship team and was named the SCAC Tournament's most valuable player during their championship run. She's a two-time SCAC All-Tournament selection, including this past season, as well as being a two-time All-SCAC performer on the hardwood. 

McCoy graduated with a double major in business administration and business finance, and was a four-time SCAC Academic Honor Roll member. She was a Posey Leadership Fellow during her time at Austin College, as well as being a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. This past year, her teammates recognized her as the team's Pat E. Hooks Award winner as the women's basketball team's most valuable player.

McCoy also served on the Austin College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, including working as the SAAC chair for 2021-22, and was Austin College's female student-athlete representative on the conference SAAC. She also participated in the NCAA Women's Leadership in College Sports Symposium in 2019. McCoy worked as a volunteer for the annual Austin College 'Roo Boo, as well as the women's basketball team's Toys for Tots clinic, as well as back to school drives for her church in San Antonio. She was also a recipient of the SCAC Character and Community Award for her volunteer and service work.
