'Roos Drop Road Game at Tigers

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Austin College women's basketball team battled but Colorado College pulled away down the stretch to hand the 'Roos a 63-50 defeat on Sunday afternoon in a road SCAC matchup.

Austin College got out to a strong start, taking a 13-12 lead after the opening quarter thanks in large part to two threes from Kacie West and another from Paulina Porter. The Tigers evened things up heading into halftime, as the two teams went into the break squared up at 25 points apiece. Colorado College opened up the third quarter with a 14-0 run to make it 39-25, but Austin College started to chip away at the lead, eventually pulling back to within two points at 41-39 with 1:34 left in the frame. However, Colorado College closed the quarter with five straight points to make it 46-39 heading into the fourth.

Colorado College extended their lead to 62-48 with just over three minutes left, and Austin College was unable to recover in the game's final minutes. West finished the game hitting 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, leading Austin College with 18 points, and Lauren Traylor scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Austin College ended the game shooting just 27.8% from the field and made only 1-of-6 free throw attempts, and Colorado College held a 61-40 edge in rebounds. Zoe Tomlinson paced the Tigers with 16 points and 15 boards.
