Rhodes Tops 'Roo Women

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Austin College women's basketball team fell to 0-2 on the season on Sunday, dropping an 83-64 contest at Rhodes College as the Lynx used a big second half to pull away.

Austin College ended the first quarter leading 17-12, but Rhodes won each of the next three quarters, pouring in at least 23 points in each of those frames. The game was all square at 37-37 at halftime, but a 12-2 run by Rhodes midway through the third quarter pushed the margin into double digits at 55-44 and the 'Roos were unable to recover, never getting closer than five points the rest of the way. Austin College cut it to 68-60 with just over five minutes left, but the Lynx finished the game with a 15-4 run to put the 'Roos away.

Natalie McCoy led all scorers with 22 points, hitting 5-of-9 attempts from behind the arc and adding six rebounds and three assists in the loss. Kacie West scored 13 points for Austin College, and Lauren Trayler chipped in nine points on 4-of-7 shooting. 

Austin College will be looking to bounce back on Wednesday when they host McMurry University in Hughey Gym at 7:00 p.m.
