Longaker Named Finalist for SCAC Woman of the Year

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Austin College women's basketball player Ally Longaker has been tabbed as one of five finalists for the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Woman of the Year Award, the league office has announced.

Longaker, a forward from Half Moon Bay, Calif., graduated this spring with a 3.93 grade-point-average and a double major in psychology and public health while also starring for the 'Roo women's basketball team. Longaker was a four-time All-Conference selection, including being a second team All-SCAC pick in both 2020 and 2021. She also earned the SCAC Elite 19 Award in women's basketball, given annually to the student-athlete with the highest grade-point-average while also excelling on the court. 

During her time in Sherman, Longaker helped the 'Roos capture a SCAC regular season crown in 2018 and a conference tournament championship in 2020. A four-year starter for the 'Roos, Longaker was also named to the SCAC Academic Honor Roll each of her four years and earned Austin College's Bo Miller Award, given each year to the male and female senior student-athletes with the highest grade-point-averages among all sports.

Longaker was a team captain for the 'Roos, and participated in the Austin College Global Outreach program, where she worked with children in Colombia. She also worked as an intern at United Way, and was a volunteer with the program's Toys for Tots Basketball Clinic in addition to being a presenter at the Austin College Women's Health Forum in 2019.

To be nominated for the SCAC Woman of the Year Award, student-athletes must have completed intercollegiate eligibility in her primary sport by the end of the 2021 spring season, received her undergraduate degree prior to the conclusion of the summer 2021 term and had a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 2.500 (4.000 scale).

The winner of the SCAC Woman of the Year Award will go on to be considered for the NCAA Division III Woman of the Year Award.
